Stomp the Yard
Honestly, i wasn't all that impressed with the movie initially: big, burly boys jumping around with uncontrollable spasms; detached-looking tongues that hang from the mouth and spasm together with the rest of the body; music so loud and thumping and CMI, it hurts my ears; camera works that makes me giddy...
Imagine my relief when the story moves away from the rowdy scenes and starts to develop a plot - a sign that I don't have to sit through 2hours of convulsion-watching.
The story revolves around a troubled LA youth trying to overcome obstacles in his screwed-up life, for true love, and for his late brother; to take part and win the national dance championship against the 7-yr defending champs, blah blah blah. A sprinkle of teamwork and family values here and there...
Predictable, predictable, predictable. I mean, of course they won the competition and of course they live happily ever after.
But still, all the stomping grows on you after awhile.
And with the Tyra Bank-lookalike female lead, and the big, burly boys with their tops off all the time (READ: hot sizzling, calculator-ish abs), you can't complain that much. ;D
