The Protection
It may be said that, in some sense, we create our own reality through the way we chose to perceive the external world and, like anything that is created or constructed, it can collapse. -Elliot Perlman, The Seven Types of Ambiguity
Lately, the people around me are getting harder and harder to read. Shrouds of mystery, spurious eminences and all that. It's such a shame because, I secretly feel that I don't even know he whom I thought I knew. That being said, this is perhaps just part and parcel of growing up. Pain avoidance is a major motivation for self-protection. If that is the case, these protective facades and distances are then, righteously, inevitable. Or something like that.
I've been meeting people whom I haven't met for the longest time. It feels good to reminisce, of the days where lives are good and funny and uncomplicated; where getting good grades for exams and moolahs for the next shopping spree are the most important thing in life. Good ol' days!
Okay, enough ranting about humanity.
