Local Waters - Pulau Hantu

After 8 grueling months of waiting, I'm finally able to, once again, don my wetsuit, fins, BCD and back-roll into the ocean. The Singapore Ocean.

Pulau Hantu is located right next to Pulau Bukum. Our nostrils were filled with the perpetual smell of fuel, not unlike those from a petrol station. In a distance, the ocean bustled with activities - cargo ships, incinerator, constructions, other signs of urbanization. Not exactly the most peaceful and serene setting, but still.

I wasn't expecting much, didn't get much.
Visibility was less than ideal -lesser than 1.5m even when the seabed was not disturbed. The waters are notably more hazardous, due partly to poor visibility and the intense amount of cercariae/other microorganism that stung every exposed part of the skin. I have more stings and cuts from the dives today compared to all the previous dives add up.

But I'm not complaining.

I'm loving the low visibility, because it makes you scrutinize every fine detail on the ocean bed. The thrill is exceptional when you finally do discover something - a small school of fish; a party of anemone fish (nemo!); crabs. Until today, I've never seen a crab that is not in captivity/bathed in chilli sauce or speckled with black pepper.

I'm loving the stings and cuts, because every time they burn(especially after the application of vinegar), I'm reminded of the dives, the serenity under the sea. I'm wearing the stings like a proud medal, simply because, what is a diver without stings? ;)

4 hours of escapade, a getaway from the tonnes of work.
Gratifying.

*Didn't take any pictures ourselves, but our fellow divers did. Check out www.chengcheng2.multiply.com for dive pictures! (:

The need for compressed air.

I wanna DIVE WITH THE SHARKS!<-- click!

Imagine me, with my BCD in lecture.
When the bell rings, I pick up my gears and head towards the door.
Sensing the curious glances that are directed towards me, I turn around and say,
"Ah it's nothing, i'm just heading down to the underwater world. To dive. With the sharks. It's just a 10 mins walk away right?!"
With the Samsung new XXX, it's not hard to imagine.

Oh well.
*Wakes up from daydreaming.
But still...
Walking to your dive site right after school?
HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT?!

Very, very cool.
But that will only be possible if bearbear finally decides not to pangseh our diving plans(again).
Haha. Let's so do it bear. I must make my studying in sentosa worthwhile. :)

P.S. Our online discussion regarding this dive trip ends with a heart-warming reminder from bear:
.[H]an[Y]ong. Philip Smith's sound is damn nice man. says: (1:59:24 AM)

.[H]an[Y]ong. Philip Smith's sound is damn nice man. says: (1:59:29 AM)

.[H]an[Y]ong. Philip Smith's sound is damn nice man. says: (1:59:36 AM)

HAHAHA. Such an ass.

P.P.S. Aren't you so very honoured bear, with me dedicating my first after-hiatus-blog-entry to diving you? Please say we are going!

P.P.P.S Forgive me for procrastinating the updates. I'm still working on it. :)

:(

I really wanna dive soon.
I really need to get away from the surface.

The peaceful tranquility beneath the ocean now seemed so far away.
The million stars that glittered the night skies seemed so out of reach.
Tsk.

Disappointment weighs me down like a giant boulder.
So much so that i just wanna hug elmo and stone.

I am not spoilt.
I just need to get away.

I need someone to cheer me up.
Thank God that i'm going out to play with my adoring classmates tmr.

MAKE ME LAUGH CHERYL!
MAKE ME LAUGH GEN!
MAKE ME LAUGH PAU!
MAKE ME LAUGH NICOLE!
MAKE ME LAUGH ROSEANN!
MAKE ME LAUGH MINYU!

MAKE ME LAUGH EVERYONE, I DON'T LIKE TO FEEL EMO!
ROAR!

Dayang Pictures Galore II

Finally got hold of the remaining dayang shots.
Yes, it's been quite awhile.
Looking at the pictures makes me wanna dive very, very badly.
Life on shore suddenly seem so mundane.
School, project, hang-out.
Meaningless.
That's probably the reason why there's no updates for so long.
After having a taste at diving, everything else appears so small, so unworthy of mentioning, so insignificant.

I wanna go back into the ocean.
I needto go back into the ocean.

**BAH. i'm not quite done sorting the pictures. it's gonna take forever.
i don't have time, life is getiing hectic.
The greatest irony, is being busy the entire day, but not feeling the fulfilment that ought to follow.
Tsk tsk.
